Hello and welcome to my website. I live and work on the East coast of the Scottish Highlands and studied Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1992 with a BA Hons in Drawing and Painting. I've always been fascinated by the quirkiness of people, how we cohabit, present ourselves and why we do the things we do. Small town life, and age, have provided me with ample inspiration to observe people going about their lives. It will never be possible to get to know every person we set eyes on, and we wouldn't want to. Instead I take a broader zoomed out view to create a colourful scene using expressive brushstrokes allowing the figures themselves to ultimately emerge from the chaos. If the composition feels a little unconventional - a tad random - this is intentional. Like any good observer, I try to enjoy the opportunity to relinquish control to outside forces once in a while.
